About Me

I'm a portuguese guy, born in Azores archipelago, belonging to Portugal. I enjoy like most people to read, outdoors sports, photography (obviously) and technology.

The idea behind the creation of this place, started as a little joke, where a friend of mine challenged me to share my photos with the world, said they were worth it. I highly doubt it, but even that way took the challenge and used that opportunity to show to all of you, the beauty of the place where i live. Is a small place, constituted by nine islands, grouped in three sections: Oriental group, Central group and Ocidental group. The islands are placed in the middle of Atlantic Ocean and have a Sub-Tropical weather. For that, we here have a really uncommon scenery, full of combinations between sea and land.

I love the nature and the different sights that it delivers. Constantly trying to catch the best moments of it, although is not always easy, due to different circunstances, mostly, the weather, but even in bad weather, there are some beautiful sights and events, be it the double rainbows, sometimes triple rainbows that usually apear after a rain, the active vulcanic activity or the sun peeking from the clouds when it is havily raining. For that, and many other beautiful and unique sights, many friends of mine say that i live in a paradise. Was just my cue to name this website as a little piece of it, with bits of its beauty.

So i really hope you enjoy this little place of the internet, and all what it delivers, most of my pictures are and will be from Azores islands, that is the main purpose of this website, but as i travel sometimes and like to "click" a lot, probably some other places will come up too, thoose i will identify to avoid mistakes about the places portaited. Also, there is a members area on this website where you can then ask things, for instance: where was this photo taken, with what configuration, etc etc... Feel free to use it. As i said, i made this website for you, not for me (i already have the photos, remember?) to show you a bit of this little heaven. Enjoy it.

The Gear

Main Camera:

Nikon D5300

Lenses:

Tamron AF 18-200mm Aspherical XR DiII

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VRII

Extras:

3 Axes tripod with horizontal and vertical bubble levels

Tamron conical petal lens hood

The camera was recently aquired, and i'm still exploring its features.
I elected the D5300, because all the good reviews i've heard, because all the sample photos i saw and most of all, because of its ergonomy, after i held it in my hands, i was sold to it.
Then was the time to select the lens, hard task because you need to think what are your main purposes. I mainly like to shoot landscapes and like to zoom a lot, so from the beggining i knew it was better to me to have one multi-purpose lens for the first steps, so i could do my landscape photos, my casual photos and sometimes my macro photos if in the mood. Debated a lot between the Tamron, Nikkor and Sigma, all from the same size. Ended choosing the Tamron because of the price and not so distant photo quality from the others. On the future i plan to aquire more specific lenses for various purposes, mainly for wildlife and wide angle photos.
